July 24 - July 26, 2015

We stayed in the Hilton for Otakon this year and really enjoyed the convenience again. It just made the weekend so much more enjoyable and laid back knowing the room was right there and connected to the convention center. This year we had the idea for Sebby to cosplay from Legends of the Hidden Temple since we have very fond memories of watching that when we were younger. My mom made the shirt and Jen painted the design for the Green Monkeys team on the front. One of our favorite panels of the weekend was Power Rangers vs. Super Sentai - the presenter was super organized and knowledgeable on the topic and had great video clips to show. It was really interesting to see the differences between the two series as we are not that familiar with the Sentai versions. We also really enjoyed the Efforts and Reactions voice acting panel by Bryce Papenbrook and Lex Lang. Hearing the entire audience participating in the different reaction sounds was really funny and we had a great time.

We were able to attend a couple workshops this year and really enjoyed making the crafts, the Build-a-Bozu workshop in particular. The presenters had a very informative presentation and it was really nice to listen to music while we all worked on our bozus. It was just a really relaxing workshop in the middle of the busy weekend - and all the charms must have worked because the rain stayed away all weekend! On Sunday, we were the first people in line for the tiny hat workshop, but due to the large number of both steps in the construction of the hat and people in the room, it turned out to be impossible to finish the craft in the time slot. We ended up leaving early because it was frustrating having to wait for the entire room to finish a step before moving on to the next one, but we did finish our hats at home. We loved the final product so much that we made a bunch more over the next few months to give to all our relatives as Christmas gifts!
