"If you weren't so stupid, I could have loved you." - Stupid

Brendan Maclean is an eccentric Australian singer/dancer/actor/performer that grabbed my attention upon first viewing of his music video for "Stupid". The song itself is great, but the video truly conveys who he is as an artist and showcases his dancing abilities. I would describe his music as being mostly in the pop/dance/techno realm, but he does branch out into other genres. He is still mostly a self-produced artist, so he isn't that widely known, but he puts out new music when he can and has released several EPs over the past few years with funds raised through Kickstarter and Patreon. One of the great things about Brendan is that he strives to make his music available to everyone. Most of his songs are available on Bandcamp with no minimum price set, and while it isn't very lucrative for his career, it is an admirable quality and helps to get his music out there for more people to hear.

Brendan Maclean is everything that I want from an artist: a great voice, catchy songs, a sense of humor, and a quirky personality. One look at his videos on YouTube and you can see that he is an oddball that doesn't seem to take himself too seriously, but he is still very dedicated to his fanbase and puts forth a lot of effort to produce quality content on a regular basis. I am a proud supporter of Brendan on Patreon and have been very pleased with the amount of music he has been able to put out. It's always nice to be able to hear new stuff before the rest of the world and also get regular updates on his current projects.

You never know what you're going to get from a new Brendan Maclean song or music video, so it's definitely been an interesting few years since I became a fan. Whether it's covering popular songs with random instruments for an Australian radio show, taking on disco hits as part of the cast of the musical showcase Velvet, putting out a new crazy concept music video, or trying out his acting chops in a new Australian scripted tv show, following Brendan's career is never boring. I hope that he continues to find new ways to push himself and keep his creating juices flowing, because he is an awesome artist and I'm always looking forward to his next venture.
