Covington Cross is about a man named Sir Thomas who lives in a castle raising his five children alone in the medieval ages. It was a great show, but unfortunately only ran in the US for one incomplete season.
What was Covington Cross about?
Covington Cross was a TV show that aired in the early 90's. It was about a knight named Sir Thomas, lord of an English castle in the Middle Ages. Sir Thomas had five grown children that he tried desperately to raise to what was expected of them. That wasn't always easy, though, as his daughter wished to have the same rights as men, his son was supposed to join the clergy but would rather be a knight, and his oldest son in the crusades is a cook. He also struggled to keep his lands and family safe from Baron Mullens, who was out to take his castle and wealth from him.
What was the best part about the show?
Sir Thomas' kids were the best part, along with the realistic chemistry between the cast. It is also funny to see how they act in comparison to families on TV today. For example, they throw axes at each other and once bet on which bone their sister will break while breaking in a horse. It is also interesting to see the conflicts between Sir Thomas' girlfriend, Lady Elizabeth, and Eleanor. The contrasts between Lady Elizabeth's prim and proper children and Sir Thomas' wild and unruly family were also funny to watch.
What was the worst part about the show?
It went off the air and never came back even in repeats. We watched "The Persecution" and saw coming attractions for the next episode, which never aired. The other bad part about the show was that William never came back after the first episode.
Where did the show go wrong?
It didn't. The episodes that never aired in the US had a couple less than great ones, but as a whole the show never went downhill.
