Here is a list of the main characters on ROAR along with some information about them.

Conor, played by Heath Ledger, was a young man who was faced with the responsibility of uniting all of the Celtic tribes in his land. On the night of his brother's wedding, his village was attacked by the Romans and everyone but himself and the family's protector, Fergus, was killed. Conor was only spared because he was out in the woods with his girlfriend, Claire, while his family was slaughtered. The only thing Conor wanted to do was be with Claire and sail across the Mediterranean with her, but his dreams were shattered when Claire was murdered by her own father. He was completely devastated by the deaths of everyone dear to him and Galen, a wizard (of sorts) found Conor and beseeched his help to lead a group of rebels against Rome. At first Conor turned him down, but eventually came to realize that they were all fighting the same battle and agreed to lead them and carry out his father's wishes. So Conor became the leader of the people in the Sanctuary and relied heavily on his best friend Fergus for help. Throughout the series, Conor became a confident leader and fell in love with Fergus' daughter, Molly. |

Fergus, played by John Saint Ryan, was the protector of Conor's family and was Conor's closest friend. On the night of Conor's brother's wedding, Fergus got drunk and fell into the wine cellar where he was able to survive the attack, because he was passed out. Conor was furious when he found out that Fergus was drunk and hadn't protected his family to the best of his ability. However, Conor eventually forgave him for making a mistake, mainly because he was happy to have at least one person he loved still alive. With Conor's family all dead, Fergus had no where else to go but the Sanctuary where he served as the second under Conor's leadership. While living in the Sanctuary, Fergus happened upon a chance meeting with his long lost daughter, Molly, whom he had abandoned as a small child. It took awhile for Molly to forgive Fergus, but she eventually came to love and respect him once more. Although Fergus had not been a father to Molly while she was growing up, he took to it quickly and made it his job to keep her happy and safe. (As well as keeping all men away from her, including Conor!) Fergus was a great character and was probably our favorite one on the entire show. |

Melissa George played Molly, Fergus' only daughter. As we mentioned above, Fergus left Molly and her mother when she was very young because he wanted his own life. Molly always hated him for leaving her and dreamed of the day when she would meet him again and tell him how much she hated him. When she was still a small child her village was attacked and Molly survived by hiding in a peach tree. She saw the people in her village getting murdered, but somehow both she and her mother survived. Molly eventually met an idealistic man named Doyle who she decided to travel with. Doyle had a dream to carry out his late wife's wishes of protecting all the orphans in the world and keeping peace. Somewhere along the way Doyle's ideals (as well as his sanity) went out the window and he began to have the children do his bidding, even if it meant killing people. Molly met Fergus and Conor when Doyle and his 'children' were brought to the Sanctuary to be safe. Molly was very hurt and confused when she learned that Fergus was her father, but she eventually forgave him and allowed him into her life. Molly decided not to stay in the Sanctuary, for she had her own dreams and wants that took her in another direction. Her travels brought her to become a Druid novice where she was to be in an arranged marriage with Conor, which neither of them had a problem with! The marriage was cancelled when the young father was killed, but Conor and Molly continued to share a special bond. |

Alonzo Greer played Tully, a young man who was pretty much raised by Galen in the Sanctuary. Tully was pulled from a slave ship when he was a small boy and Galen took him in and protected him. He had a fun-loving personality and always enjoyed trying new things, and he was a good friend to anyone who needed one. Tully tended to look up towards the others, which was probably because he was the youngest one out of the main characters. His closest friend was probably Catlin, and they bickered just like brother and sister, which was kind of cute. Tully was an okay character, however, it is my belief that he was severely underdeveloped. The stuff I just wrote was basically all there was to him, and I feel that the show could have done more with his character. However, if the show was to have continued, it is possible that he would have played a larger role. (It is doubtful though, because it seemed that he and Catlin were being eased out of the show during the last few eps to focus more on Conor, Fergus, and Molly). |

Catlin was played by Vera Farmiga. Her past was an open book, because she would tell anyone who cared to listen her sob story. Here's Catlin, in a nutshell: she was raised by a man who found her and she looked up to him as a father. However, he betrayed her and sold her to the Romans as a slave. She served the Romans for many years, witnessed awful things and had it pretty bad. One day Conor saw her and helped her escape, where she was then found by Galen and taken to the Sanctuary. It took awhile, but she eventually came to accept her freedom. Catlin was also a strong believer in the Christian religion, and kept that a a well guarded secret from Conor and the others for quite some time. Catlin was definitely not our favorite character, especially with Conor. However, she was cool in the episode "The Cage" when she told Conor that she didn't mind if he liked Molly, that she would be happy for him no matter what he chose. We thought that was good of her not to be a jealous freak like most girls on TV shows, and she gained a lot of respect from us for that. (See, no one wants to see cat fights on these shows. A little maturity in the girls can go a long way.) |

Lisa Zane played Diana, the queen of Rome. She was married to Gar, who was king before she was queen, but she was never faithful to him during their marriage. Through her marriage, Diana also became Claire's step mother and she was the one that killed Gar. (For two reasons, because she wanted to become queen as well as save Conor from him). Longinus was her lover, but only because he gave her many gifts from the future, and she was not faithful to him either. Diana was power hungry but she did do some things to help Conor and his friends, so no one really knew her motivation. She warned the young father that Longinus was going to kill him and she saved Conor's life from Gar. In the unaired episodes (in the US), Diana and Longinus began to drift apart. He betrayed her in "Traps" and she cheated on him in some other episodes. Diana had finally had enough in "The Cage" and didn't let him out of the cage that Conor and the others had managed to trap him in. She lied to the emissary and led him to believe that she was doing everything right, and eventually made amends with Conor and the Celts. With Diana in charge without Longinus, everyone was happy. Happy enough, at least. |

Longinus, a four hundred year old immortal man was played by Sebastian Roché. Longinus was unable to die because he was the one who killed Christ on the cross. (Yeah, this show got kind of religious, to the point where it was actually uncomfortable to watch sometimes). He had visions of weapons from the future and had many of them made for Diana. She was the only one who cared for him and he gave things to her gladly. However, he was very upset when he found out that Diana was not faithful to him and betrayed her trust in him in the later episodes. Longinus wanted to die for a very long time and always tried to, but nothing ever worked. He had a chance to die when Conor had the Spear of Destiny, and actually got down on his hands and knees and begged Conor to kill him. But because Longinus had caused Conor so much pain, he didn't want him to have the satisfaction of dying. Conor should have killed him though, because soon after, Longinus killed the young father in retaliation. In "The Cage", Longinus became trapped in the cage Diana had had crafted. Conor pushed the cage into ocean and since he could not die, Longinus was trapped forever in the bottom of the sea. Conor always wondered if Longinus would return, but in the end of the series (an episode later), he had yet to. I bet that it would not be pretty if he did come back, and that would be one episode I would not like to see. |
